Our Mission
Other Side Editions is a nonprofit publishing house dedicated to developing visually compelling works at the intersection of photography, visual art, design, and contemporary culture. Through carefully considered publications, we seek to create books that engage the intellectual, emotional, and aesthetic dimensions of lived experience—projects that shape how the world is seen, remembered, and understood.
Rooted in the vision of Act One: A Century in the Making, our program collaborates with photographers, artists, writers, and thinkers whose work reflects a distinct voice, depth of inquiry, and a strong visual language. We are drawn equally to culturally expansive narratives and intimate personal projects—works that bridge disciplines and audiences through storytelling, visual form, and enduring artistic vision.
We see the book not simply as a vessel for images, but as a space where meaning is shaped through sequence, rhythm, typography, and the dialogue between image and text. Design is central to our process: every editorial decision, material choice, and visual gesture contributes to the intellectual, emotional, and aesthetic experience of the work.
Each publication is developed through close collaboration with its creators, guided by editorial rigor, visual sensitivity, and a commitment to enduring form. From concept through production, we create works intended not only to be collected, but to be returned to, lived with, and experienced over time.
We are drawn to projects with a distinct visual language — works that engage culture, memory, identity, landscape, history, and personal experience with depth, originality, and formal clarity. Our interests span both culturally expansive narratives and intimate personal works, united by a singular photographic vision and lasting emotional resonance.
Above all, we seek to publish work that reveals something essential in a voice all of its own.
